Two Quick Questions For My Calvinist Friends

Ques. #1: Why are you a Calvinist?  Primarily, why do you presently hold to Calvinism? Ques. #2: What would it take to convince you that Calvinism is false or unbiblical? (are you even open to the possibility that you may be wrong about Calvinism?)

Help With Some Posts

I want to do a series of posts that deal with specific Calvinist proof texts.  I have already done this in many other posts but want to organize it into an exegetical series.  I would like to get some suggestions from anyone who has questions on certain texts that supposedly support Calvinism so I can [...]

Update

Things have been slower here than I would like.  Unfortunately, I do not have as much time to devote to this blog as I used to.  I have been in the process of moving and that has really limited my time the last several weeks.  I am working on some posts and hope to have [...]

Summer Vacation (Sort of…)

Regretfully, today will be the last day that I will have daily access to the internet.  Unless things change in the near future I will not be able to contribute much to this blog or any interactions.  Hopefully, I will still be able to post every now and then but will probably not allow comments on those posts [...]

Strong Patristic Agreement With the Standard Arminian Approach to Rom. 7:14-25

Read the article at The Arminian magazine on-line: The Patristic Interpretation Of Rom. 7:14-25 Part 1, The Early Christian Witness to the Arminian Interpretation Note:  While this represents the typical Arminian interpretation of Rom. 7 going back to Arminius, not all Arminians subscribe to this basic interpretation.  Robert Picirilli, for example, is one Arminian exception and takes [...]

John Calvin Goes to Berkeley (Book Review)

James G. McCarthy’s John Calvin Goes to Berkeley is an enjoyable book that deals with an important contemporary issue: the growth of Calvinism, especially among young people.  The setting is the famed University of California where some Calvinist members of a campus ministry are starting to make their presence known by putting pressure on the [...]

John Wesley’s “A Dialogue Between a Predestinarian and his Friend”

Be sure to check it out at SEA.  Wesley had a knack for concisely cutting to the heart of a matter.  I also highly recommend his “Predestination Calmly Considered”, another excellent Arminian Polemic against the fundamental teachings of Calvinism.

Does Anyone Else Do This?

Often when I look at a digital clock I immediately think of a Scripture verse.  For example, if it happens to be 6:23 I think of Rom. 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”  If the time reads 11:32 I [...]

Exposing Calvinist “Forgery” in the Paper Trail of Prophesied Prayers (Comments)

A member of the Society of Evangelical Arminians SEA with the screen name of “Arminian” (Blogger and in the past sometimes WordPress) and “arminian1″ (now WordPress) has been debating with Calvinist scholar James Anderson, who teaches at Reformed Theological Seminary, over whether petitionary prayer can rightly be called a cause of God’s answers to prayer [...]

Enjoying Some Classic Calvinist Compliments on Arminian Teaching

“Fun” Calvinist Quotes on Arminian Theology This post is almost as funny as it is sad.  Thanks for keeping us sane, Kevin.  And if you haven’t had your fill of Calvinist vitriolic rhetoric, you might want to read Roy’s post as well, Pulling Some Comments Out of the Bag I am sure I could double Roy’s list [...]
